LaDonna Ellene (Morgan) Simonton

       LaDonna Ellene Simonton, age 74, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by family following a long battle with cancer on Sunday, May 5, 2019. Service will be Friday, May 10, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Campbell, Nebraska with Pastor Mark Diehl officiating.  Burial will be in the Presbyterian Cemetery, Campbell, Nebraska.  Visitation will be Thursday May 9, 2019 from 1:00-8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home, Campbell, Nebraska and one hour prior to service at the church.  A memorial has been established to be designated at a later date.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com.  Campbell Funeral Home, Campbell, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

LaDonna was born to Albert & Gladys (Gifford) Morgan on Dec 15, 1944 in her grandmothers’ home in Kearney County. She graduated from Campbell High in 1963 then attended and graduated from Hastings Beauty Academy in 1964.  It was at this time she met the love of her life and joined in marriage to C. Dean Simonton on March 21, 1964. Together they lived in Lincoln and worked at Goodyear but when ready to begin their family they called the country north of Campbell their home. They have lived 50 years at this residence and spent a lifetime building memories. While on the farm not only did she raise 5 children and assist on the farm but she also had her own LaDonna’s Farmette Salon,  partnered with Dean with the aerial applicating business starting in 1981 and even bought her husband a birthday present where he could play all the snooker he desired in 2000. (The year she purchased The Campbell Tavern).

LaDonna was baptized, confirmed and married in the same Presbyterian Church, as was each of her children. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, C. Dean Simonton (Campbell, NE), and their children Cody & Kristin Simonton (Upland, NE), Corenna & Michael Iverson (Columbus, NE), Crystal Simonton & John Graf (Campbell, NE), and Cindy & Brandon Smith (Manhattan, KS). Sister, Gwen and her husband, Burdette Jameson (Upland, NE), Cary & Terry Brown (Coon Rapids, MN), Sister-in-law, Faye Bonin (Grafton, NE), Grandchildren, Katlyn Simonton (Hastings, NE), Brooke Simonton (Campbell, NE), Blaine Simonton (Upland, NE), Joshua & Andrea Bakenhus (Elkhorn, NE), Jacob & Shelby Bakenhus (St. Ed, NE), Morgan Iverson (Norfolk, NE), Sara, Samuel, Mason, Shirley and Carter Graf (Campbell, NE), Adriana, Clinton, Hazel, Charlotte Smith (Manhattan, KS). Along with many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

She was proceeded in death by their son, Clinton Albert Simonton, her parents, Albert & Gladys Morgan, infant sister, Beulah Mae Morgan, In-laws Clinton & Sadie Simonton, Brother-in-laws Howard Simonton, Merlin Simonton, Elmer Bonin, nieces Sherry Fox, Debbie Bonin.
