Robert Louis Edwards

Robert L. Edwards, 70, Holdrege, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Nebraska.  There will be no services as his wishes were to be cremated.  Private family burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Wilcox, Nebraska at a later date.  A memorial has been established to be designated at a later date.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com.  Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Robert was born on October 9, 1948 to Keith H. and Esther J. (Benychek) Edwards at Belleville, Kansas.  He graduated from Concordia Kansas High School in 1966 and then from Kansas State University in 1971 with a Fine Arts Degree.  He then moved to Denver and moved to Holdrege in 1973.  On December 1, 1973 he married Barbara Anne Boe.  She passed away on December 2, 1983.  He married Cheryl M. Amen on October 9, 1986 in Holdrege.  He worked for Ted Deyle Construction and in the early 1980’s was the Assistant Manager of Pamida.  In 1984 he purchased the Time Out Restaurant.  In 1990 he purchased Bob and Norm’s Quality Floors, Inc.  He sold the store in 2008 and retired.  He loved fishing, golfing, making birdhouses and hanging with the grandkids. 

Robert is survived by his wife; Cheryl, Holdrege, Nebraska, daughter; Stephanie “Stevie” (Benji) Meyers, Holdrege, Nebraska, one sister; Sue Anne Olsen, Lyndon, Kansas, three grandchildren; Emily, Madison and Tyson Meyers, numerous nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, infant brother; Stephen, infant sister; Kae, brother and sister-in-law; Keith, Jr. (Sylvia) Edwards and brothers-in-law; C.D. Olsen and Alan Amen.
