Brooke Rene (VanBoening) Schmidt

Brooke R. Schmidt, 48, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska.  Services will be Friday, November 1, 2019, 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska with Pastor Leah Krotz officiating.  Burial will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska.  Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2019 from 9:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. with family present from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Merten-Butler Mortuary and one hour prior to services at the church.  Memorials can be directed to the family.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com.  Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Brooke was born on February 6, 1971 to Dean L. and Darlene M. (Fraser) VanBoening at Red Cloud, Nebraska.  She graduated from Blue Hill High School in 1989.  She then attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Brooke married Thomas M. Schmidt on June 12, 1993 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska.  Brooke enjoyed raising her kids, being a mom, being with family and friends, helping Tom on the farm and 80’s music.  She is a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Brooke is survived by her husband; Tom, Blue Hill, Nebraska, one son; Jared Schmidt, at home, one daughter; Peyton Schmidt at home, mother; Darlene Engel, Blue Hill, Nebraska, two sisters; DeAnn Wieland, Omaha, Nebraska, Denise (Dan) Heguy, Golden, Colorado, three brothers; Jerry (Alicia) VanBoening, Hastings, Nebraska, Lonnie (Cindy) VanBoening, Blue Hill, Nebraska, Lamar (Gloria) VanBoening, Lawrence, Nebraska.  Brooke is preceded in death by her father, brother-in-law; Gregg Nicolarsen and nephew; Tyler Wieland.
