Donald Joseph Himmelberg

Donald J. Himmelberg, 94, Lawrence, Nebraska passed away on Sunday, January 05, 2020, at the Blue Hill Care Center, Blue Hill, Nebraska.  Rosary will be Wednesday, January 8, 2020, 7:00 p.m. and Mass will be on Thursday, January 9, 2020, 10:30 a.m. both at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska with Father Corey Harrison officiating.  Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Lawrence, Nebraska.  Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Lawrence Visitation Chapel, Lawrence, Nebraska.  A memorial has been established to be designated at a later date.  Private condolences may be sent to the family at www.mertenbutlermortuary.com.  Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska is in charge of arrangements.

Don was born on January 20, 1925 to John P. and Josephine J. (Kitten) Himmelberg at Lawrence, Nebraska.  He attended school through the eighth grade.  He farmed his entire life until he retired.  Don married Bonnie J. Hesman on January 24, 1998 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lawrence, Nebraska.  Don was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.  He was a former member of the Lawrence Volunteer Fire Department.

Don is survived by his wife; Bonnie, Lawrence, Nebraska, four stepdaughters; Kathy Kucera, Hastings, Nebraska, Susan Cleveland, Tonganoxie, Kansas, Debbie (Dan) Alber, Blue Hill, Nebraska, Lori (Dave) Rine, Columbus, Nebraska, one step daughter-in-law; Kimberly Kucera, Deweese, Nebraska, three stepsons; Randy Kucera, Deweese, Nebraska, Bill Kucera, Norfolk, Nebraska, John Kucera, North Platte, Nebraska, five brothers; Vernon (Bonnie) Himmelberg, Lawrence, Nebraska, Orville (Barb) Himmelberg, Friend, Nebraska, Robert (Betty) Himmelberg, Lawrence, Nebraska, Howard (Glenda) Himmelberg, Columbus, Nebraska, John J. (Donna) Himmelberg, Lawrence, Nebraska, four sisters; Coletta Robinson, Franklin, Nebraska, Rita (Ken) Brott, Littleton, Colorado, Vivian (Darrel) Soucie, Hastings, Nebraska, Marie (Richard) Crucitt, Poway, California, fifteen step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.  Don is preceded in death by his parents, one step son; Larry Kucera and one sister; Doris Rech.
