Madeline Rose (Crickett) Meyer, 72, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at Mary Lanning Healthcare, Hastings, Nebraska surrounded by loved ones. Service will be Thursday, November 30, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Hastings, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Weinkauf officiating. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Blue Hill, Nebraska. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 29, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Merten-Butler Mortuary, Blue Hill, Nebraska and one hour prior to service at the church. Memorials may be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church. The service will be live streamed on Merten-Butler Mortuary’s website. Madeline was born August 20, 1951, to Orville and Elma (Bales) Clark, in Denver, Colorado. She was baptized as an infant in Denver. On December 4, 1971, Madeline was united in marriage to David Meyer, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Blue Hill, Nebraska. They were celebrating their 52nd year together. She was confirmed on February 29, 1976, at Trinity Lutheran Church. To this union, 4 children were born, David Jr (Charlie), Heidi, Scott, and Brett. She loved her children and supported them in their education and Faith. When the children were grown, Madeline and David raised a granddaughter, Lacy. She supported Lacy in her education and Faith.
Madeline was a homemaker, raising her children, helping with the livestock, hogs and cattle in the early years. She worked at Blue Hill Care Center for 14 years, as a Nurse’s Aide, Med Aide, and Bath Aide. She worked at Long John Siver’s for 12 years. Madeline proudly earned her GED in 1977. Madeline enjoyed bowling in the early years, cooking and trying new recipes to share with her family, coloring, sketching, crafting, and being in the company of her family. Madeline always shared her love and Faith with her family. She always exhibited kindness, and was concerned about everyone else’s wellbeing.
Madeline is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, David, Raymond, John, Chuck, and Mike; sisters, Nadine, Shirley, Ramona, Linda, and Sandra; father and mother-in-law, Vernon and Phyllis Meyer, and sister-in-law, Mary Liess.
Those left to celebrate Madeline’s memory are her husband, David, of Blue Hill, Nebraska; children, David Jr (Charlie) Meyer, Heidi Graf, Scott Meyer, Brett (Jennifer) Meyer, of Hastings, Nebraska, Lacy (Wyatt) Pfeifer of Spalding, Nebraska; one sister, Suzanne (Charles) McDonald, of Kansas City, Missouri; brother & sister-in law, Jim and Danece Meyer, of Blue Hill, Nebraska, brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Eileen Saathoff, of Hastings, Nebraska and brother-in-law, Mark Liess, of Grand Island, Nebraska; 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
